About Josie

Josie was involved in the 1980’s batik movement that established the women artists of Utopia. In 2005 she began painting Dreamtime stories passed down to her from her father’s country, Alhalkere, as well as colourful depictions of life at Utopia.

Josie’s mother, renowned artist Polly Ngale, sisters and aunties are all Utopia artists, and the years spent watching them provided inspiration to her. Like most members of her community, Josie speaks little English but is very enthusiastic about painting and sees it as a means of language and expression of her stories and culture.

Having lived in a number of communities within Utopia over the years, including Homestead, Boundary Bore, and Apungalingum, Josie is no stranger to travel and has proudly traveled to Perth, Melbourne and Darwin for her artwork. Josie continues to live out in Utopia with her husband, Dinny Kunoth Kemarre, their children, and their extended family. The painting depicts in a linear design the root system of the pencil yam (atnwelarr), as well as the tracks to where the plant is found. It is at these sites where significant ceremonies are performed by the women from Alhalhere, Utopia in Central Australia. Through song lines, body paint and dance cycle homage is paid to the spirit of the yam plant to ensure perpetual germination. The pencil yam is a principal food source (bush tucker) for the Aboriginal people.

Works
Size: 8.5"x11"
Works great for sublimation. Get plenty of sheets. Great value for the price. The paper is pretty thick and seems to hold a good amount of ink without smearing.

My go-to sublimation paper for crafting
Size: 8.5"x11"
I've used several sublimation papers, and this one has worked really well for my crafting projects. The colors transfer bright and vibrant, and the images come out crisp with good detail when using the proper sublimation printer and ink. The paper feeds smoothly through my printer and feels like a good quality weight—not too thin and not overly thick. I've used it for tumblers, keychains, and other sublimation projects, and I've been happy with the results. I also appreciate getting 110 sheets in one pack because it lasts a while, especially when working on multiple projects at once. Overall, this is a reliable sublimation paper that gives consistent results and is great for crafters or small business owners.

Quality of the printers resolution and price point.
Style: Press & Oven Bundle
Really a great bundle for the money. The printer is main part and it does produce very high quality sublimation prints using sublimation paper. The thing i like most compared to my other sublimation printer is the manage of ink. It seems to use less ink while producing high quality image. The ink is also refillable so no expensive cartridges. From the other products included, i use the press most often. I love its simplicity of use. You easily set temperature and time. Strong and sturdy as well. Oven works good for image transfer to tumblers, coffee cups, plates and many other non textile products. Overall very happy with purchase!
