The Village of Beaux Arts was founded in 1908 as an Arts and Crafts colony. In 1954, to maintain its autonomy and independence from the growing city of Bellevue, The Town of Beaux Arts Village was incorporated as a fourth-class town. The Town depends on resident volunteers to conduct Town business and manage the communally owned lake-front property
