Commemorated April 17th

The Hieromartyr Simeon, Bishop of Persia, suffered during a persecution against Christians under the Persian emperor Sapor II (310-381). They accused the saint of collaborating with the Roman Empire and of subversive activities against the Persian emperor.

In the year 344, the emperor issued an edict which imposed a heavy tax upon Christians. When some of them refused to pay it, this was regarded as an act of rebellion, so the emperor began a fierce persecution against Christians.

Saint Simeon was brought to trial in iron fetters as a supposed enemy of the Persian realm, together with the two hieromartyrs Habdelai and Ananias. The holy bishop would not even bow to the emperor, who asked why he would not show him the proper respect. The saint answered, “Formerly, I bowed because of your rank, but now, when you ask me to renounce my God and abandon my faith, it is not proper for me to bow to you.”

The emperor urged him to worship the sun, and he threatened to eradicate Christianity in his land if he refused. But neither urgings nor threats could shake the steadfast saint, and they led him off to prison. Along the way the eunuch Usphazanes, a counsellor of the emperor, saw the saint. He stood up and bowed to the bishop, but the saint turned away from him because he, a former Christian, out of fear of the emperor, now worshipped the sun.

The eunuch repented with all his heart, he exchanged his fine attire for coarse garb, and sitting at the doors of the court, he cried out bitterly, “Woe to me, when I stand before my God, from Whom I am cut off. Here was Simeon, and he has turned his back on me!”

The emperor Sapor learned about the grief of his beloved tutor and asked him what had happened. He told the emperor that he bitterly regretted his apostasy and would no more worship the sun, but only the one true God. The emperor was surprised at the old man’s sudden decision, and he urged him not to abjure the gods whom their fathers had reverenced. But Usphazanes was unyielding, and they condemned him to death. Saint Usphazanes asked that the city heralds report that he died not for crimes against the emperor, but for being a Christian. The emperor granted his request.

Saint Simeon also learned about the death of Usphazanes, and he gave thanks to the Lord. When they brought him before the emperor a second time, Saint Simeon again refused to worship the pagan gods and confessed his faith in Christ. The enraged emperor gave orders to behead all the Christians in the prison before the saint’s eyes.

Without fear the Christians went to execution, blessed by the holy hierarch, and they bent their heads beneath the sword. Saint Simeon’s companion, the Priest Habdelai, was also beheaded. When they came to the Priest Ananias, he suddenly trembled. Then one of the dignitaries, Saint Phusicus (Pusicius), a secret Christian, was afraid that Ananias would renounce Christ, and he cried out, “Do not fear the sword, Elder, and you will see the divine light of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Saint Phusicus betrayed himself by this outburst. The emperor gave orders to pluck out his tongue and to flay the skin off him. Along with Saint Phusicus, his daughter Askitrea was also martyred. Saint Simeon was the last to go before the executioner, and he placed his head on the chopping-block (April 13, 344). Executions continued all during Bright Week until April 23.

Saint Azates the Eunuch, a close official to the emperor, also received the crown of martyrdom, along with Saints Abdechalas, Usthazanes, and Azades. The sources indicate that 1,150 Martyrs perished because they refused to accept the Persian religion.

Nice Desk Organizer
Color: Black, Color: Black
This particular desk organizer has the little strips of wood that each have a magnet installed inside them. This allows you to move the wood strips to different locations and adjust the areas to fit whatever size item you want to put in there. It's very easy to just move them around and the bottom of the tray has a nice material in it that prevents scratching the items you place in there. The usable area on the tray is 12-1/2" x 8-1/4" x 3/4" and the overall size is 13-5/8" x 8-3/8" x 1". It fits nicely in drawers or simply having it sit on top of a desk to hold items. It also is made out of good quality and is very sturdy.

Great product quality
Color: Black
This had literally everything I was looking for, but… just too large for the area I wanted it in. Check the measurements and compare that to your actual space. If they had about 1/2 to 1/3 of this size I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. It has a groove for your phone charging cable and the moving magnetic dividers are genius. I’m looking for something to put on my nightstand to allow the phone to charge at night but face down. Extra section for earrings or hair accessories, etc would be great. This has that potential. Just needed it smaller.

Versatile organizer for men or women
Color: Black, Color: Black
This is a just drawer organizer tray or nightstand organizer that is very handsome with wood grain and metal the two bars are magnetic and you can move them around to suit the size of the items that you're placing in the organizer. I think it's a very versatile item that can use by either men or women and it's a decent size and it can fit small pieces of jewelry your phone a few other items if you were organizing your nightstand before bed certainly can go into a desk drawer or a nightstand drawer to suit your lifestyle. I think it was a good value for the money because it is yet another item that can help us be more organized in this busy world.

Effective and functional air purifying
Style: Medium Room Air Purifier, Style: Medium Room Air Purifier
This Amazon Basics model AC2224A Air Purifier is a really capable machine with a somewhat unique filter. I ordered it when it was on special and decided to give some detail on the features to help folks who might be new to air purifiers. The filter weighs in at just over 1lb. That's actually pretty heavy for the size. The filter does the standard 3 things people expect, pre-screen, hepa, active carbon adsorption, but it's a little unique in how it is configured. The pre-screen is straight forward and permanently attached to the outside. It should catch big stuff like pet hair to help stretch out the more expensive layers. Most other filters run a single layer of hepa then separately on the inside run a layer of activated carbon - either as mesh or pellets. Here the filter stitches the hepa and the active carbon together. The active carbon is actually small chunks about the size of sugar crystals layered inside. (yes, I found the end and cut off a pieces to check it out). That actually is a very thoughful way to do it. Activated carbon is structurally changed in the factory to increase its surface area. It's a process you can't replicate at home. The activation allows it to adsorb molecules that cause odor and VOCs. I've given you an illuminated photo of the inside of the filter so that if you can zoom in you'll see the random strands which the hepa standards require. Random strands improve filtering and add strength for the filter. The risk with running a layered filter like this is that if it's constructed poorly it will block airflow. I can check those aspects and on high speed the machine pulls under 30watts and puts out just shy of a 9mph air flow. That's good work. Air flow does create air noise which I measured at 65db directly on top of the machine. It drops another 10db a foot away. On the sleep mode I get 42db on top and that actually drops below the 30db I can measure once you're a foot away from the machine. So, it's capable of power and of being quiet. The last thing is the automation. There is an air sensor on the back by where the cord plugs in that measures the PM2.5 levels. I know what mine are (I have multiple purifiers and sensors), so it doesn't surprise me in the least that on auto the machine drops down to the lowest level. You can also turn on a light that then adds a color to indicate the air purity. I use either essential oil or incense to test the sensor. This was very responsive and noted the essential oil mist I was diffusing right away. It turned the light red and sped to its highest level. Once it had cleaned up the issue it slowed back down and returned to its peaceful green color. It gives solid performance that is in no way basic. Plus, there's the added advantage that you're familiar with the company behind it.

Fresh Air, Quiet Performance, and Easy Setup
Style: Medium Room Air Purifier
Great air purifier! It was super easy to set up and started working right away. The noise level is low, even on higher settings, and the air in my room feels noticeably fresher. It’s compact, looks nice, and fits well in smaller spaces. Definitely a solid buy if you want something simple and effective.
