It's a conventional aphorism in the Igbo language but if you utter the word 'osondi owendi' in Nigeria today, the first thing that comes to anybody's mind is the cucumber-cool highlife music maestro Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe and his legendary album that takes it's name from the adage. Released in 1984, Osondi Owendi was instantly received as Osadebe's magnum opus, the crowning event of an exalted career stretching back to the early years of highlife's emergence as Nigeria's predominant popular music. Stephen Osadebe first appeared on the music scene in 1958 as a spry, twenty-two year-old vocalist in the Empire Rhythm Skies Orchestra, directed by bandleader Steven Amechi. With his dapper suits, urbane Nat King Cole-influenced vocal stylings and jaunty, up-tempo, calypso-scented dance tunes, he personified the frisky spirit and anxious aspirations of a young, educated generation that had come of age in the wake of the Second World War... 1959 would be the year that he truly made his mark in the business with his debut solo single 'Lagos Life Na So So Enjoyment'. A giddy exhortation of the music, sex, fun and freedom availed by life in the big city, the song became a sensation and an anthem, and Stephen Osadebe became the leader of his own popular dance band, the Nigerian Sound Makers... As Nigeria emerged from a devastating civil war, so did a new generation of youth inspired by rock and funk, confrontational sounds reflective of a more violent, less idealistic era. All of the sudden, the idioms of the post-WWII dance orchestras that nurtured Osadebe's cohort seemed quaint, the stuff of nostalgia. Osadebe needed to evolve to respond to the new tumultuous, turned-up times... Abetted by a new crop of fire-blooded young players, Osadebe slowed his music to a mellow, meditative tempo, brought forward the lumbering, Afro Cuban-accented bass and percussion, from the rockers he borrowed searing lead lines on the electric guitar. Over this musical bedrock, doesn't so much as sing as he dreamily muses, coos, sighs aphorisms, words of wisdom and inspiration... Osadebe christened the style oyolima - a tranquil, otherworldly state of total relaxation and pleasure. Comfortable and convenient
Size: 34, Color: Kangaroo
Got these to replace some old cargo shorts that aren't made anymore and are developing holes. So far I have been very pleased. The waist fits true to size and the fit is relaxed through the seat and thigh, which is exactly what I was looking for since I have somewhat stout thighs relative to my waist. I'm 6'0", about 200lbs, with a 34-35" waist. The material feels sturdy without being overly heavy, about as thick as old ripstop BDUs.
Front slash pockets are generously deep; no problem carrying a 5.5" smartphone in there. Rear pockets are sufficiently deep and are narrow enough that a trifold wallet won't turn itself sideways. Cargo pockets are adequately sized and have hook and loop closures at the corners. The "tech" pocket behind the left cargo pocket is very convenient for me, as I'm used to carrying my phone on that side. I can slide my Samsung Galaxy S25 in there and it fits well without worrying about it falling out.
I wore these for a couple of days at Disney World last week and they performed very well. Moving my phone to that tech pocket made rides with lap bars or belts much more comfortable. I even washed these shorts at the resort so I could wear them on the long drive home.
If I could change anything about them, I'd add about an inch of length, as I prefer a full 11" inseam on cargo shorts. And maybe add a button or some kind of closure to the rear pockets. But aside from that, these have been pretty close to perfect. I expect I'll order more as I replace more of my older cargo shorts.

Great Shorts

Ok.... I have bought these several times, the shorts aren't wearing out or tearing, I am losing weight,.... I like these shorts so much, I keep buying them in my new size... Every size (44 42 40 and 38) has fit well, good length, and are comfortable... Pockets are functional, left side fits my smart phone... Yes, I will buy them again....

Lightweight and comfortable

The fit is just right and they're very comfortable. This is the second pair I've bought and the review could easily be for both pairs. The only difference between them is the color.
I deducted a star because they really need at least 2 more belt loops. Why do manufacturers skimp on something that would be so inexpensive to do right? The belt loops on either side of the front button are 11 inches apart. Ideally they'd be at most 5 or 6 inches apart.
Anyway, these will be the shorts I wear to do my yard work. I can put my phone in the right hand cargo pocket and know that the Velcro closure won't let it fall out while I'm working. My keys will go in the left side cargo pocket.
I'd definitely buy them again. The price is right and they are comfortable to wear.

Very well designed shorts!

Bought one pair awhile ago, and now buying several more. Great relaxed fit, very comfortable, good fabric weight AND pockets not designed by morons - actually so easy to store and retrieve wallet and phone unlike Dockers and Izod and other cargo shorts I've purchased in the past. So comfortable and well designed. They're cut a little large for the stated size - but not necessarily a bad thing, and waist has a little bit of stretch. Love them!
