This is an archival art print of my original oil painting. The series is inspired by simple pleasures and the exuberant enjoyment of life, what the French refer to as “ joie de vivre”.
When I was working on my abecedarian collection for a solo show that would later become my book, “R is for Rainbow”, some letters came to me easier than others. ‘W’ was for wish, however, I struggled with the imagery and accompanying text. I was driving home from a routine prenatal checkup, stressing about the impending deadline for paintings and fast aproaching due date, when it came to me. Of course, ‘W’ is for Wildflowers and things with wings! The painting was created with my newborn baby boy sleeping at my side.
